Well maybe by the time it goes into production and reaches the US my Tmax will need to be replaced.
This would put all the "but the Burgman is faster" argument to bed and maybe people will give the Tmax the respect it deserves. |

Although I think nobody really needs 750cc on a Tmax, it sounds interesting (if it's true), as long as it doesn't means farewell to the long awaited, radically new, Tmax...
I believe it is really difficult to design a triple engine within the same size of the twin. Moreover, why keep the CVT with the electro-actuated clutch? A semi-automatic gearbox seems more appropriated. _________________ Claudio "PhacocoeruS"

I wanted to get a Triumph Street Triple because of the engine exaust sound, but now I (some day in the distant future) can get it with the Tmax.
I'm supprised that Yamaha didn't go to a full hydrolic drive like Hondas new DN??1. Be the best of all worlds, with no CVT belt to ever have to change.
If it fits in the old frame, I'll keep my eyes open for a wrecked one, and upgrade. _________________ 2009 Yellow XP500Y-Y "Rosie" The Yellow Rose of Tmaxes

Wait, any minute now someone will say: "Yeah but my Majesty holds two helmets."
Three cylinder engines, like the Triumph design are inherently smooth and with a balance shaft it should be even better!
My new T-MAX, Maxzilla, will probably be a few years old by the time this new "750" reaches our shores, so I say: "Bring it on."

Displacement is probably not necessary in scooter, but read carefully it does away with rubber drive belt.
TMAX is fine as is. US model needs ABS---and for all markets air management is poor--I hate buffeting!
In US, where we drive slow and rider skill is low, everybody always wants faster. What for?

Faster=more fun-----Slower=no fun
Slower in the U.S. with no skill? Hardly. HWY 400 through Kansas is like the Autobahn in Germany! Interstate 5 from Bakersfield North, I40 across the U.S., I8 and I10 from CA eastward, etc etc etc, all are fast and wide open. My friends and I used to ride through most of Montana and Wyoming at about 100 mph all the time. Could have easily rode faster, as fast as anyone, anywhere but at those speeds, the gas gets low very quick and the stations are few and far between.
Just because Europe has a lot of Scooters and Motorcycles and a tierd licensing system doesn't make them anymore skilled than we here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Conversly, there's no where big enough in Europe that they can keep a bike full throttle for more than a few seconds--- compared to our wide open country.
I want the new V-MAX T-MAX, coming soon to a dealer near you!

For Porky - - I take it you have ridden the Heilbronn-Wurzburg section of Autobahn recently. to move into fast lane you should be able to go 125mph and be able to accelerate away from that or be run down.
I lived in Europe 18 years - - -we are slow in the US---you would be surprised how fast you can go on zip bike and be legal there---if that is what you want to do.
Skill in US is down - - watch HD riders or GoldWing paddle with their feet.
Skill? Go to Scootercade and they fall down in the parking lot, some have trouble getting them off the trailers. Or Daytona.
As DOD Safety Manager in Germany I had to deal with people who had US licenses and were MSF trained----extremely low skill--many require going back to the basics. Our Lic system stinks. Japan where lane spitting is the way to go - - Americans have to be trained and skills brought up so they can at least ride - - in spite of that often little girls on scooter smoke them.
I have ridden in 49 states and even when you could go as fast as you wanted to in Montana, I saw very few
fast bikes. Of course going fast in the US is dangerous as there is no lane discipline....then add all the idiots on cell phones, etc.
John Grinsel
I remember in the 1950's I could run Karlsruhe-Munich - -300km, 180 miles and never let off gas on my BMW R51/3---that is quite a long stretch. Today conjestion and overuse of Autobahn makes that impossible. Top speed of bike was about 85-90mph with Heinrich Fairing and downhill with tail wind you could float the valves which I assume was near 100mph. For the time that was fast. |

WHY WHY WHY are you going into details..
Its a 750c Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I'd buy one in an instance.. Big is better.. well it is for me everything is 100k's away here in Australia.. its why I have now done 17,000ks in 15 months..
I don't need to go faster but I need it..
Ok Ok I admit I'm a TMax addict I need more.. _________________ TMAX 08, 1x Sexy Wife, 3x "All grownup, left home Sons Yaaaaaa!!! There's food in the fridge now " . IT Technician for the last 39 years.

No John, I haven't ridden that stretch of the Autobahn lately but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express recently.
Just because a road is legal at hyperspeeds it doesn't mean that the people driving the performance cars are inherently better drivers than the many commuters that I shared the roads with for many years on my way to my offices in Los Angeles, California.
Picture a man or woman driving 80 mph, bumper to bumper, talking on a cell phone, eating a donut whilst enjoying a cup of coffee, smoking a faggot, reading the newspaper, applying makeup, applying eyeliner, brushing their teeth, scolding the kids, in the rain, making it to work on time with the thousands of other drivers and doing this everyday as a common occurence. I maybe saw two or three accidents in my 50,000 miles per year on the highway---now that's skill!
I'm tired of the ethnocentricity of some forums and posters that treat America like we are just an apostate nation of simple farmers and zombies that somehow managed to make it after we broke away from the mother or fatherland.
I've ridden my Motorcycles for 46 years, been all over the western half of the U.S. and as a road Captain for various Motorcycle clubs and groups, leading as many as 200 bikes at once and in all that time I'm happy to report that I've seen just a few motorcycle wrecks.
Sure, I've seen lots of tip overs in parking lots, especially gravel or dirt ones but try "TRIALS RIDING" a 900 lb Goldwing, HD Ultra-Classic, or say a BMW K1200c very slowly and things sometimes happen, even to experienced riders. Remember, you lose a point for "dabbing" or putting your feet down! (old trials ridder) Add alcohol to the equation and this stuff happens more often. Funny but the wives and girlfriends sure get upset when this happens!
I can't imagine how some scooter owners drop their scoots in their own driveways, especially with the low center of gravity! Maybe these are the ones you're alluding to but POOP happens or so they say!
I would like to see a tierd licensing system here also. I've seen to many people that haven't ridden at all think they can start off on a small displacement bike and be safe--small as in a GSXR 600, CBR 600R, YZF600 etc etc. I've seen these things sold to kids at 15 1/2 years old as Mom and Pop wrote out the check so that their little sweety pie can have fun! I've seen them ride away not even wearing a helmet! My dealer friends told me that it was common for the parents to not want to spring for a helmet since the bike purchase was expensive enough.
How about this: first year, no larger than a 250cc*****
second year, no larger than a 650cc*****
Third year, unlimited CC's******

John, most of the stuff I post on these forums is done in humor and not meant to offend anyone and I applaud your experience and educated comments that add substance to these issues!
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT !!!! I still will be interested in a 750CC, 3 cyl T-MAX!! take care, Sam _________________ Read John 3:16
