Malossi Shocks, pros and cons

Postby brassman96 » Sat Aug 27, 2016 18:19 18

Hi folks. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set of Malossi rear shocks for my '07 Majesty. I would appreciate any input from folks who have gone from the stock shocks to the Malossi shocks. What improvement in handling and ride comfort have you experienced?

Thanks in advance!

After talking with the guy at ScooterParts for awhile who did not make any great claims for an improved ride, I went ahead and ordered a set of Malossi rear shocks for my 07. Just installed them today and took the bike out for a 20 minute spin over the rotten roads here in Cincy. The improvement seems pretty marginal. There is a little less jolt to the bumps but I don't think it was enough to justify the nearly $300 expense. The dampening is only a little better too. Oh, well, they look cool!

If anyone is considering an upgrade and doesn't want to spend a lot of money, the stock rear shocks from a 2008 model and up are adjustible and was a great addition to my '06 Majesty. They were acquired from a late model wrecked scooter for around $50 for the pair.

Sorry-mine aren't for sale, I'm still using them! Search some of the ebay/craiglist sellers or motorcycle parts yards. I got mine from a dismantler in Ohio. The 2007 and older shocks aren't adjustable, 2008 and newer are. They aren't fancy chrome but being able to change the preload w/the five different settings lets me dial it in bit better. They are still stock shocks, though.
